Part 1 Create a presentation about a variety of drawing techniques. Your presentation must cover the following techniques:
Part 2
Review Contour and Cross Contour drawing techniques. Download this image. Open it in Photoshop. Make one layer above the image. Using the digital tablets, draw the vase using the contour and cross contour drawing technique. Part 3 Follow the guide below to begin your illustrations. Here is the link. Mr. Shipley reviewed the expectation of due dates and deadlines for the three part assignment seen below. There is NO excuse to not have the assignments completed by the stated deadlines. Students were made aware of what they need for the assignments and should be working on the projects in class. Anchor Standard #3: Refine and complete artistic work. Indicator: Engage in continual practice, revision, and craftsmanship in refinement of artwork. Enduring Understanding: Excellence in art is developed through continuous practice, craftsmanship, refinement, and reflection. Objective: Students will create an illustration that forces a viewer to explore the concept of beautification. Part 1Using only one image, create an artwork as seen in the video below. Part 2Using the same portrait or a new one, create a fractured portrait as seen below. Part 3Create an artwork inspired by the image below.
There will be no video guide for this one. Final result should be black and white. The images should use at least four different angles of the persons face. Your artwork should have at least 10 “boxes”. A strong composition would incorporate experimentation with different proportions of the facial features. Also, experiment with the stacking of the parts and don’t forget drop shadow to really enhance the work. Anchor Standard 2: MAKE Enduring Understanding: Experimentation, risk-taking, and learning from mistakes are essential to the creative process. Essential Questions: How can narrative inspire artwork? How and why might artists tell the story of their creative process? Curricular Objective: VA:CR.2.1.H1.a. Demonstrate proficiency of skills and concepts through guided experimentation, practice, and persistence. Objective: Students will be able to conceptualize and design a video game level that tells a portion of a story for a character in three dimensional space. An isometric drawing is a pictorial drawing often used in engineering drawings. The isometric drawing is the fastest and most accurate type of pictorial to draw. An example of applying isometric drawing techniques. This video is just an example to see that an entire video game was made using isometric grid drawing. You will create a presentation that consists of the following:
Include your two best artworks created in this class. Label which one is your favorite. Give each of these works an appropriate title. Identify in your own words why you chose these two artworks. Include one of your least favorite works from this class. Identify in your own words why you dislike it. Create a response to inform incoming freshmen of what to expect in Mr. Shipley's Digital Art class. Things that you may to tell them about: type of work you do, challenging or not, general class procedures(what's a normal day like), Mr. Shipley, etc. You will have the opportunity to identify what is a kaleidoscope (maybe you already know what it is), how it works, and we will create a kaleidoscope effect using Photoshop. STEP 1 IDENTIFY Using Google Slides answer the following: What is your name? What is your period #? What is a kaleidoscope? (Don't copy and paste text from the internet. You may read something from the internet, but formulate your answer in your own words.) How does a kaleidoscope work? (You don't need a complete scientific response, just a general overview.) Provide a picture of what a kaleidoscope looks like. Provide 4 artwork examples of imagery viewed through a kaleidoscope. STEP 2 CREATE
Locate 4 images that you would like to use to create a kaleidoscope effect. Remember, all images should be 1000 pixels x 1000 pixels or larger. Follow this guide to create your own. You may have done vectors before, but this is very different. First, identify what is a VECTOR graphic? Second, identify what is a RASTER graphic? Vector graphics are so powerful that entire pieces of software have been developed around the concept. To get started, we are going to first understand how to use the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator. The pen tool is the foundation of manipulating vector graphics. Begin by downloading this file and use the videos below to begin understanding how to use the features of the pen tool. A DIFFERENT WAY TO MAKE VECTORS Now that we understand how to manipulate vectors using the pen tool we can expand our creative process with other features of the vector software. Start by downloading this image. Open this presentation to develop a new way to create vector imagery.
1. Negative Space Formative Assignment Use your selection tools and a paint brush to fill the negative space with black and the subject with white.
I'm done!!!
I'm done!! I'm done!! Did you just complete the Circlism project? You can start this project. Here is the guide. If you say that you don't have a picture but you have your cell phone out, then you have a picture. NO EXCUSES!! SPECIAL TASK FORCE TIME This student went on a top secret mission. The odds were against her(not really). The timing was critical and the location was super secret(not really, because it was room 149). Linked below is the classified(not really) reconnaissance notes of the perilous mission. Whatever you do, DON'T CLICK ON IT!!! PLEASE, DON'T CLICK ON THIS!!!
Step 3: Create a portrait using the circlism technique. You will be evaluated on composition, effect use of shape to convey the form, and proper color analysis(matching) to enhance the final artwork. All reference images must be at least 1000px x 1000px. No video games, cartoon characters are to be used.

Mr. ShipleyThe guy standing near the front of the room. Your procrastination is NOT my emergency.
