Search for portraiture throughout the history of time and collect at least 20 portraits. These could be paintings, drawings, photographs, etc. Analyze the portraits as a whole.
CREATING and PRESENTING: (Standards 1-3) You will select the image or images that you intend to use for the final artworks. You will brainstorm and collect possible color choices, patterns, and/or appropriate background choices to enhance the work. This is very important for a stronger piece!!! Do you remember the elements and principles of design? Emphasis, Contrast, Unity, etc. Put these concepts to good use!! Consider the person, review the questions of your conversation with the person. What was the narrative of your summer? All work, all play, or a little bit of both? Compile a collection of imagery that could be used to tell the story of your summer. It could be actual photos from your summer or photos that share what your experiences were of the summer. Find inspiration via an internet search of magazine covers. What are some common "parts" of a magazine cover? Title? Quotes from articles? Catchy snippets to entice readers? Imagery? Borders and boxes? UPC code? Which issue? Font choice? Colors on the magazine? Background imagery needed? How do others perceive my identity? How might the media shape our view of the world and ourselves? To what extent might a culture/society/subculture shape an individual’s understanding or concept of happiness?
